Distribution : This whales live in temperate zones of both hemispheres as far as Florida in the North and Brazil in the South.

Births in winter after a twelve months period of gestation. The young are suckled as long as their length is less than around 26 feet.
Sexual maturity when their length is more than 49 feet for a male and 52 feet for a female.
Black skin. White spots where the skin is moulting.

Average length: 56 feet;
Average weight: 69 tons;
Longevity: 30 years;
Food: copepods and krill's.

Distribution: This whale lives in all the oceans as far as the ice bank. It spends the summer in polar seas and the winter in tropical seas. They live in groups of around twelve individuals.

The period of gestation lasts eleven to twelve months. The young are around four m long and are suckled during twelve months.
Sexual maturity when their length is more than 36 feet for a male and 39 feet for a female.

Average length: 52 feet for a male and 59 feet for a female.
Average weight: 46 tons for a male and 55 tons for a female.

Longevity: 95 years.
