Distribution : The killer whales live in all oceans, especially in tropical oceans and tempered oceans.
We have seen some killer whales in mer d'Iroise.
This cetacean is the biggest and the most fast-moving in the family of the delphinidae.

Males: Length: around 29 feet, Weight: more than 6 tons.
Females: Length: around 26 feet; Weight: around 4.4 tons


They live in groups of 4 to 6 individuals.

The period of gestation lasts 15 months. The young are suckled during twelve months.
One birth every 8 years.
Longevity: 50 to 100 years.


Food: Fishes, calamaris and also seals, dolphins, birds. They don't attack humans.
